Cyril Abiteboul attacks Ricciardo after McLaren transfer is confirmed
Cyril Abiteboul, head of the Renault F1 team, was not happy with the arrival of his star driver, Daniel Ricciardo, at McLaren. At least that is what he said in a statement in which the French manufacturer acknowledged that negotiations with the Australian manufacturer to extend its contract had failed.
In our sport, and particularly with the extraordinary situation we are living in, mutual trust, unity and commitment are, more than ever, key values in a factory teamCyril Abiteboul, team manager
It is the dart that the French manager has thrown directly to the Australian, whose contract with the brand of the rhombus ended this season.
I am confident that the 2020 season will allow us to achieve more successes together. Our ambitions and strategy as a team remain unchangedCyril Abiteboul, team manager
Ricci, after making his move to McLaren official in 2021, has sent a message to his current team on social networks.
I am grateful to the Renault team for the welcome they have given me.
I am looking forward to getting back on the grill this year, my next one has not arrived yet, so let’s finish this one strong.Daniel Ricciardo, F1 driver
The Renault team, facing the 2021 season, is ‘lame’; as only Esteban Ocón – who signed for two years last August – has the steering wheel assured. That position will be one of the most coveted in the coming weeks, unless Mercedes joins the ‘party’ .
